ISA Guha helped England snatch a dramatic final-ball victory to take a 4-0 lead over Australia in their one-day series.
She took the crucial wicket of Aussie big-hitter Shelley Nitschke in Sunday’s match at Wormsley.
Nitschke had smacked 71 off 106 balls until her swashbuckling innings was stopped in its tracks by the High Wycombe bowler.
The crucial wicket of Australia’s top scorer was the only one Guha took as she returned figures of one for 47.
But it was the big wicket that England needed as the Aussies recovered from a poor start, in which they lost two batsmen in the first over, to compile a challenging 225.
It was nip and tuck for a long time but England held their nerve to just squeeze past the tourists’ total at 226-8 to extend their lead in the series to 4-0.
Guha and her colleagues will now be hoping to make it a complete whitewash in the one day series tomorrow when they will be bidding to make it 5-0 when the teams meet at Lord’s.
