Wycombe District Swimmers had their most successful meet ever when they travelled to Hazlemere (Surrey) last weekend for the local club's meet.
The team placed second overall to Leatherhead SC out of 56 clubs represented, gaining 36 medals – 16 gold, 11 silver and nine bronze, with 28 club records broken and 87 personal best times set.
Alex Vine, 18, won the top male swimmer award for his victory in the 200m Individual Medley. He also won the Medley Skins event and placed second in the free skins event.
Vine also won the 400m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 200m butterfly, 100m breaststroke, 200m breaststroke and placed second in the 100m butterfly to complete a very successful weekend.
Katie Ambridge won the top female award for the 13 year age-group, winning the 200m individual medley, 50m butterfly, 100m butterfly, 200m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 200m butterfly. She also collected bronze medal in the 100 breaststroke and 50 freestyle finals.
James Crawford, 15, gained National Age-Group Youth Qualifying times and the 400m freestyle, 100m backstroke and 200m backstroke events.
He also won the 200m freestyle in the 14/15 age-group, while Jeni Howard, 14, also gained a NAGQT Youth time for the 200m Backstroke when claiming second.
Robert Matthews-Stroud, 14, also had a very busy weekend, winning gold in the 400m freestyle and 50m freestyle, silver in the 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke, and bronze in the 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly.
The remaining gold medal went to James Poulton, 15, in the 15 and over 100m individual medley final.
