Leyton Orient are hopeful that Craig Clay will be fit for this weekend’s important match against Barnet.

The midfielder was replaced by Matt Harrold with 15 minutes remaining against FC Halifax Town on Saturday and was seen limping down the touchline towards the team’s celebrations following James Alabi’s late goal in the 90th minute.

But the O’s are hoping that he will be able to train today and believe he should be fit enough to feature against the Bees this weekend.

Clay divided opinion among the Orient fan base at times last season but has impressed alongside Charlie Lee in midfield this campaign, with his deflected effort, which later went down as a Liam Hogan own goal, securing the O’s a point against Salford City on the opening day.

The midfielder has been an ever present in the O’s midfield so far this season and has made 58 appearances in all competitions since moving to East London from Motherwell in July 2017.

Clay could be joined in full training by James Brophy and Sam Ling, who are closing in on a return to action following their respective injuries.

Brophy and Ling haven’t featured since the 2-0 win over Maidstone United last month, but assistant coach Ross Embleton confirmed that the duo could return to full training later this week, although it is unlikely they will be ready for this weekend’s match against Barnet.
