Wilfried Zaha’s second goal this season was not enough as Roberto Pereyra and José Holebas condemned Crystal Palace to their second straight Premier League defeat.

Pereyra dipped inside to fire past Wayne Hennessey before Holebas inadvertently crossed the ball into the net on a wet and windy afternoon at Vicarage Road.

While Zaha becomes the Eagles’ all-time leading Premier League scorer after cutting behind the defence to help stage a comeback, but it proved too late.

Here’s how we rated Crystal Palace’s players…

Wayne Hennessey – 6 – Kept Palace in it at times when the defence was caught out, and excellently denied Will Hughes. Unfortunate for both goals in the end.

Joel Ward – 6 – Great header to clear a Daryl Janmaat cross early on. Had a decent outing in place of Wan-Bissaka. Almost scored at the death.

Martin Kelly – 7 – Considering the circumstances, he performed decently. Not as active as Sakho but had his share of good moments.

Mamadou Sakho – 8 – Terrifying to watch in possession, but met everything when off it with power – as usual. Deeney didn’t look as big a handful around him. Man of the match.

Patrick van Aanholt – 5 – Was caught out a couple times and enabled Watford chances down his wing. Passing was sloppy at times, too.

Andros Townsend – 7 – Started very brightly, could have assisted two early goals. Got turned easily for both goals. Effective in attack, less so when defending.

James McArthur – 8 – Should have put away an early chance but also made an important block. A good performance at both ends of the pitch, kept Palace ticking over.

Luka Milivojevic – 6 – Had a relatively uneventful first-half, though he got a kick from Troy Deeney for his troubles. Fairly quiet.

Jeffrey Schlupp – 6 – Had good energy about him which helped van Aanholt, however, his didn’t provide a lot in attack. Made way for Max Meyer on 75 minutes.

Christian Benteke – 5 – Had a great chance early one which turned out to be one of very few for him all afternoon. Christian Kabasele performed excellently against him. Subbed for Alexander Sorloth.

Wilfried Zaha – 6 – Got Palace back into it late with a fantastic individual effort, though it masked what was an otherwise very off afternoon for him.

SUBS

Max Meyer – 6

Alexander Sorloth - 5
