Barnet’s search for an opening National League victory goes on after they were beaten for the first time this season, losing 2-1 at home to previously winless Eastleigh.
A Michael Green rocket in the first half and a second goal after the break from Paul McCallum ensured the visitors picked up their first win of the season to leave John Still’s men 17th in the fledgling table.
Having drawn their first two games, the Bees would have been hoping to push on at the third time of asking but they were rocked when full-back Green found the top corner with a superb effort from 25 yards.
The hosts spurned a great chance to level when former Barnet keeper Graham Stack denied Shaq Coulthirst when he was put through one-on-one.
It was an opportunity the Bees were to rue not taking even further when McCallum got on the end of a Josh Hare free-kick at the far post to head beyond Mark Cousins.
Barnet did give themselves a late lifeline through Charlee Adams but it proved to be too little, too late.
Barnet: Cousins; Alexander, Johnson, Sparkes (Walker 67), Taylor, Robson, Adams, Elito (Mason-Clark 59), Sweeney, Coulthirst, Harrison. Subs not used: Matrevics, Fonguck, Tutonda.
