Leyton Orient have appointed Southend United’s Reece Ottley as the club’s new goalkeeper coach.

Ottley arrives from the Shrimpers having spent the last five years working within the League One side’s academy set-up alongside some of their young shot-stoppers.

He takes over from Dean Brill, who will now focus on his playing career with the O’s, after the 32-year-old initially arrived at Brisbane Road as the club’s goalkeeper coach last summer.

But Brill has combining coaching with playing for the last seven months, after he was installed as Orient’s number one by head coach Justin Edinburgh swiftly after his appointment at the end of November.

The experienced 32-year-old went onto make 29 appearances for Orient last season and looks set to remain in between the posts this campaign, having been handed the number one jersey after signing a new two-year contract earlier this year.

As a result, Brill will now put his coaching career on hold, with Edinburgh confirming Ottley’s appointment after last weekend’s pre-season friendly against Harlow Town.
