Lee Bowyer and Johnnie Jackson are stepping up their hunt for a new goalkeeper coach following the departure of Lee Turner, Charlton Athletic have confirmed.

The 48-year-old, who worked closely with both Ben Amos and Nick Pope, jumped ship to Millwall earlier this month.

Now Bowyer has revealed the Addicks have ramped up their search while Jackson will continue his role as caretaker assistant manager.

He said: “I’ve met a couple [of goalkeeper coaches] so I’m just waiting for one to get back, and then me and Jacko are meeting three of them again.

“The two of us will go and meet them and then we’ll decide from there.”

Turner has taken up his new role at the Den following the departure of Kevin Pressman, who was at Millwall for six years.

Charlton will make a huge away trip to Sunderland to kick off the new 2018/19 League One season on August 4.
