Mahlon Romeo has signed a new long-term contract with Millwall.

The defender made 31 appearances last season as the Lions finished eighth in the Championship.

He started the campaign as the club’s second-choice right-back behind Conor McLaughlin, but dislodged the Northern Ireland international in December.

Romeo, 22, said: "I'm really pleased to extend my stay and really grateful to be at this club.

"It took a little while for me to get used to this League, but I felt like I went from strength to strength as the season went on and enjoyed the challenge."

Millwall boss Neil Harris added: "Mahlon had to be very patient last year, at the start of the season Conor was performing excellently.

"Mahlon took his chance with both hands when he got it and fully deserves this new contract.

"We're delighted he's committed his long-term future to the club and look forward to watching him continue to grow on and off the field."
