Dale Gorman has become Leyton Orient’s first summer signing, with the Northern Irish midfielder putting pen-to-paper on a two-year-deal at the club.

The 21-year-old arrives at the Breyer Group Stadium having recently been released by League Two side Stevenage after five-years at the Lamex Stadium.

Gorman initially joined Stevenage as part of their youth set-up in 2013 from Letterkenny Rovers and after being handed his first professional deal with the club in May 2015, he was handed his first-term debut later that year against Ipswich Town in the League Cup.

The former Northern Ireland U21 international featured regularly for Stevenage last season, scoring two goals in 27 appearances in all competitions, helping them to secure a 16th place finish in League 2.

But the 21-year-old was one of seven players released by the club at the end of the campaign, having made 71 appearances in all competitions in three years as a professional at the Lamex Stadium.

Leyton Orient have been keen to bring in a midfielder this summer and Gorman will help to fill the void left by Ebou Adams, who moved to Ebbsfleet United recently after enjoying a successful loan spell with the O’s last season.

Gorman, who will wear the number 17 shirt, told Leyton Orient's website: "I am delighted to sign for this great club and I am looking forward to the success in the future. With the players, people and fans we have here already, the new season is set to be something special and I can't wait to get started."

Martin Ling added: "We are delighted to welcome Dale Gorman to the football club. He is a young and energetic central midfielder with football league experience, playing over 50 games in League Two. He is a lad that has been on our radar for a while and compliments the other central midfielders we already have at the club.
