Liverpool’s transfer business could affect Crystal Palace’s pursuit of Monaco midfielder Soualiho Meite.

The Reds signed Fabinho from Monaco in a £43.7m deal on Tuesday, leaving the French club short of options in midfield.

And now, Meite, who made 19 appearances during a loan spell with Bordeaux last season, could fill the void left by Fabinho.

French publication L’Equipe says Palace are targeting Meite, who has four years left on his current deal.

But the 24-year-old is likely to have more game time at Monaco following Fabinho’s big money move to Liverpool.

Palace are looking to sign a central midfielder with Yohan Cabaye’s future up in the air.

Cabaye’s contract expires this summer with Marseille monitoring the Frenchman's situation.

If he leaves Selhurst Park, it is believed the Eagles would step up their attempts to bring Meite to the club.
