West Ham’s James Collins says he is ‘heartbroken’ after confirming he will leave the London Stadium this summer.

The 34-year-old’s contract was due to expire with the Hammers next month and reports in recent weeks have claimed that the centre half was told via email that he was unlikely to receive a new deal.

However, the former Wales international, who was a fan favourite at the London Stadium, has confirmed his departure on Instagram earlier today.

Collins, who has enjoyed two spells with West Ham, has made over 200 appearances for the club in all competitions in eleven years with the Hammers.

The defender, who has also spent time with Cardiff City and Aston Villa during his career, has endured an injury hit campaign with the Irons this season, making just 15 appearances, scoring his last goal for the club in the 3-3 draw with AFC Bournemouth on Boxing Day.
