West Ham have no interest in allowing Andy Carroll to leave the club on loan during the transfer window, assistant manager Alan Irvine has said.

The 29-year-old forward, who is due to miss West Ham's FA Cup third-round replay against Shrewsbury tonight through injury, has been linked with a temporary move to Chelsea.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is keen to bolster his attacking options after seeing his side go three successive matches without scoring a goal.

But Irvine believes loaning Carroll, who has scored just twice during another injury-hit campaign, is out of the question.

"I certainly hope Andy will be a player here at the end of the month," Irvine said. "I don't think we have had any offers, in terms of taking him on loan, and I don't think the club would entertain him going out on loan.

"That does not help us and we need as much help as we can get between now and the end of the season, so I don't know why that would be attractive to the club if it was to come up.

"There has been a lot of talk about it, but not necessarily anybody doing anything about it."

West Ham are reported to be considering allowing both Javier Hernandez, who was sent home from training on Monday after falling unwell, and Diafra Sakho, sidelined through injury, to leave this month.

Former Stoke forward Marko Arnautovic and midfielder Manuel Lanzini, meanwhile, have courted interest from opposition clubs following a string of impressive displays.

Irvine, however, insists the east London club, up to 11th in the Premier League following a run of four unbeaten matches, do not want to sell.

"It is vitally important to keep Marko and Manuel," Irvine added. "They are key players for us and they are players who can make a difference.

"We have such a thin squad that we can't really afford to lose any players. I am not aware if anyone has come in for them. We are looking to improve the squad in any way we can and don't want to weaken it in any way."

Josh Cullen could feature in the replay against Shrewsbury after losing both of his front teeth following a collision with Abu Ogogo in the goalless draw at New Meadow.

"Funnily enough Josh missed training this morning because he was away to get some work done on the root canal," Irvine added.

"It has affected two teeth and the medical team told us he needed to get this appointment as quickly as possible and this was the time that he could get it done.

"He has got a gum shield that is now being fitted for him and it was important that we didn't put the lad in a position where he was going to lose his teeth. If we waited for longer for this work to be done then that was a definite risk."
