Charlton came from behind to beat Rochdale 2-1 at the Valley.

Jake Forster-Caskey’s second brace of the season cancelled out Matthew Gillam’s early opener.

The win, which extends the Addicks’ unbeaten league run to nine games, lifts them up to fourth in League One.

Karl Robinson named an unchanged team from the 2-2 draw against MK Dons on Saturday.

The Addicks were off the pace from the start and trailed after 13 minutes. Joseph Bunny’s pass found Gillam, who neatly finished from eight yards.

Charlton looked shaky in defence with Calvin Andrew causing Ezri Konsa and Naby Sarr problems.

The visitors nearly doubled their advantage on 21 minutes when Matthew Done hit the post from close-range after outmuscling Jay Dasilva.

The Addicks were struggling to carve out significant openings but equalised against the run of play. Dasilva’s lofted cross fell kindly to Forster-Caskey in the box and the midfielder kept his composure to score his fourth goal of the season 10 minutes before half-time.

Karlan Ahearne-Grant replaced Ben Reeves at the break and had an immediate impact, delivering two dangerous crosses into Rochdale’s six-yard box.

Charlton were a completely different team in the second-half, Ahmed Kashi struck the post from 25 yards before Ricky Holmes scuffed the rebound in the 51st minute.

Despite the Addicks’ pressure, they needed heroics from Ben Amos to keep the score level. Ian Henderson connected with a Donervon Daniels flick-on to draw a point-blank save from the Bolton loanee.

And it proved vital as Charlton took the lead in the 60th minute when Rochdale goalkeeper Joshua Lillis spilled Mark Marshall’s shot, which allowed Forster-Caskey to tap the ball home.

While Rochdale went in search of an equaliser, the Addicks had three chances to end the contest late on. Marshall’s shot was pushed away by Lillis and then Josh Magennis curled an effort wide before Ahearne-Grant headed a cross straight at the stopper.

Amos saved the Addicks once again with another top save by denying Bradden Inman five minutes from time.
