Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has questioned Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s physicality.

The Chelsea midfielder, on loan at Crystal Palace, was forced off with a back problem in the first-half of England’s goalless draw against Brazil on Tuesday.

The injury blow came just four days after Loftus-Cheek put in a man-of-the-match display against World Cup holders Germany.

And Giggs, who made over 700 appearances for Manchester United and Wales, raised concerns over the 21-year-old’s ability to play back-to-back games at the highest level.

He said: “I think you've seen with the likes of Marcus Rashford, that robustness is now there because he's had 18 months to two years playing top level football.

“Loftus-Cheek just hasn't had that so when you've got the high of Friday night and then you've got to do it again on the Tuesday night then it's tough if your body isn't ready for it.

“He's not done it at the top level for a long period of time but hopefully the injury isn't too bad.”

Loftus-Cheek is an early doubt for Palace’s crucial league game with relegation rivals Everton on Saturday.
