Brentford stormed to victory in a 4-1 win against Queens Park Rangers to book their place in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

An Ariel Borysiuk own goal allowed the Bees to draw first blood before defender John Egan doubled their advantage in the west London derby 20 minutes in yesterday evening (August 22).

New addition Neal Maupay made it three shortly after the half-hour mark, but QPR’s Paul Furlong pulled one back for a 3-1 score going into half-time.

There was only one goal after the restart, thanks to young midfielder Josh Clarke on 83 minutes, which helped Dean Smith’s men to a comfortable win.

Brentford have now ended a run of three consecutive fixtures without victory and will host Wolverhampton Wanderers at Griffin Park on Saturday (August 26), searching for their first league win this campaign.

The Bees have already outperformed their previous two runs in the Carabao Cup, going out after a 1-0 defeat to Exeter City last year and getting dispatched by Oxford City 4-0 the season before.

The draw for the third round of the Carabao Cup is at 4.15am on Thursday, August 24.
