Charlton boss Karl Robinson says Ben Reeves is not match fit.

Reeves, 25, was looking for a new club after leaving MK Dons in May so did not have a pre-season.

The playmaker joined the Addicks just before the start of the season, and started in the Carabao Cup win over Exeter on Tuesday.

But he was absent from Charlton’s 2-0 defeat to Plymouth today, and is set to train away from the first-team for the next three days to build up his fitness.

Robinson said: “He’s now on a pre-season programme, we either had to play him on Tuesday and not today, or put him as a sub on Tuesday and put him as a sub today.

“It’s all about us building his minutes up to get him match fit, so that’s why he wasn’t here. We obviously missed him in certain aspects of the game against Plymouth.

“We always knew there would be a fatigue level with his calfs and hamstrings because it’s the first time he’s played in over four months.

“So now he trains tomorrow, Monday, Tuesday on a pre-season block. And he’ll be training back with the first-team on Thursday and Friday, and be on the bench next week. He will then play at Norwich on Tuesday.”
