Cameron Stewart’s Charlton future will be decided in the next 48 hours, News Shopper understands.

Stewart, 26, has been on trial with the Addicks in pre-season, and impressed against Welling United earlier this month.

The former Manchester United trainee has been without a club since leaving Ipswich last summer.

The injury to star man Mark Marshall has forced Karl Robinson to look for a replacement in the wide positions.

And Stewart, who had a brief loan spell at the Valley in the 2013/14 campaign, is hoping to earn a permanent deal with the club.

At this time, News Shopper has been told it remains unclear if Charlton will offer the former Leeds man a contract. But his future will be resolved in the next 48 hours.

Robinson said he would have a meeting with his staff to discuss Stewart’s future last night.

And speaking about Stewart earlier this summer, he said: “His delivery has been outstanding, his fitness levels are getting nowhere near where they need to be, if I’m being honest. He knows that.

“With the way we are going to play this year, we need wingers and we want players to score goals. He’s got as good a right foot as you’re going to get.”
