Millwall boss Neil Harris is still looking to bring in at least two more faces ahead of the new season and says he would ideally like them in before their opening league fixture at Nottingham Forest on August 4.

The Lions have not signed a player since securing the services of Conor McLaughlin from Fleetwood on July 1 and Harris says that things have been difficult.

Speaking after his team’s 0-0 draw with Stevenage on Tuesday, Harris told News Shopper: “We are very, very busy behind the scenes and have made no secret that we want a couple more additions.

“We are working extremely hard in dialogue with clubs and agents to make it happen and I think we are very fortunate that we brought five first-team targets in out of five, and two more we are after have been stop start.

“For the number of players we wanted to bring in [seven], five is a great position to be in, but it has been a few weeks since the last one came in and it is slightly frustrating for us.

“We want to bring players in to work with the group and get messages in on the training pitch as soon as we can. We are still looking to bring players in before Forest.

“Sometimes you must be patient. The recruitment guys can’t work any harder than they are now, so we will just keep trying.”

Millwall are without a goal in their last two pre-season games as chances were missed against Stevenage and they were denied a penalty late on.

Harris added: “I will have to look back at the penalty decision. Mahlon [Romeo] said he got trodden on and the lads were convinced, but that’s pre-season, we are not scoring the goals, but they will come.

“Today we looked a lot sharper, we were very dangerous with the ball.”
