Charlton star Mark Marshall could miss the start of the season with a knee injury.

The summer signing from Bradford came off in the 28th-minute against Stevenage after failing to shake off the problem. He left the Lamex Stadium in a knee brace.

Speaking after Charlton’s 2-1 win over Stevenage, Addicks boss Karl Robinson  said: “The only disappointment is Marshy coming off, he had a bit of knee problem. He went into a challenge and stunted his knee.

“It doesn't look good but we’ll see.”

Charlton won their fourth successive pre-season game thanks to goals from Karlan Ahearne-Grant and Jake Forster-Caskey.

They had to come from behind after Fraser Franks put Stevenage ahead.

Robinson added: “I thought our football in first 15 minutes was sensational.

“It’s probably the best I’ve seen since being at the club. The biggest disappointment for me was the lack of taking our chances and then we paid for it. Our decision making wasn't great but that can improve.”
