Millwall striker Lee Gregory says he is keen to extend his stay at The Den.

Gregory, whose deal runs out next summer, scored 18 goals in the Lions’ promotion-winning season.

Millwall’s talisman had the chance to join Rotherham in the Championship last year, but the move never materialised.

And with Neil Harris’ side now in England’s second tier, Gregory is happy that he stayed in London.

When asked whether he would like to start talks over a new deal, Gregory said: “Yeah, why not?

“I said to the gaffer last year I wanted to be a Championship player. I’m there now and I want to stay there.

“I want to stay with Millwall, they’re a big club and deserve to be in the Championship. We’re there and now we kick on.

“Last year, me and the gaffer were speaking every day and Rotherham didn’t happen. I’m not bothered now.

“Look what’s happened, they’ve gone down and we’ve gone up. The gaffer said to me at the start ‘you’re my main striker, you’re staying here’. As soon as he said that, it was done.”

The goalscoring form of Gregory and Steve Morison has been key to Millwall’s return to the Championship.

They scored 37 goals between them last term, and Gregory assisted Morison’s winning strike against Bradford at Wembley.

And the former Halifax striker reckons they will be terrorising Championship defenders from August.

Gregory added: “Steve is 33 and he’s still doing it. It’s unbelievable. We don’t know why our partnership works, but it worked again on Saturday.

“It doesn’t look like it’s slowing down anytime soon. The longer Steve carries on the better for me.”
