Rowan Liburd was delighted to get some game time under his belt but would rather his new club, Leyton Orient, took something away from their 2-1 loss to Carlisle United.

The 24-year-old joined the O's in the January transfer window from Stevenage until the end of the season and played 60 minutes before being subbed for Sammy Moore.

During the game, Liburd and 17-year-old Sam Dalby linked up well in some spells to show what could be a promising partnership.

“This has been my first game in a while and I am kind of glad I got to start really, it has been good," said Liburd on Saturday.

"Dalby is really good and he is quite young as well. To play with him today alongside me, I thought he did great.

“I am just looking forward to the next game and if it is him or someone else up front we will just take it from there and play our best.”

When asked how found his first game in the red shirt he said: “It was a tough game, I think. Playing up front on my own against three good defenders it was tough.

“But I am just looking forward to the game against Morecambe and hopefully I can get my first goal and some points for Leyton Orient.”

The Croydon-born footballer has scored one league goal this season for The Boro but having worked with Danny Webb over the past week he is keen to pay back the man who was willing to give him a shot.

He said: “I was just keen to play football, score goals and help whatever club I am at. Push up the table or push for play-offs whatever, it all about playing football.

“Danny has been great, a really good guy. I listen to him and any kind of instructions he gives or advice just to take it all on board.

“He is very positive. I think the changing room has been real upbeat. Everyone has put this result aside and are focusing on the upcoming matches.”

One thing the forward mentioned was how welcoming everyone at the E10 club was and how he did not hesitate to join despite the current situation the O's are in.

“Training has been really sharp and the boys have been great. And I felt I gelled quite well with all of them," he explained.

“They have brought me in and it has been good. I did not know anyone before signing.

“That is why I was so surprised how quickly we gelled. I didn’t really know any of them, just from playing against them.

“They all welcomed me and we clicked. I did not hesitate, I just wanted to play football.

“Danny was good enough to give me an opportunity to play.

“So I kind of didn’t think twice and jumped straight at it. Just get out there, perform and make the fans proud of me.

“All the backroom stuff is none of my business I am just here to play football.”

Orient plays Morecambe tonight in a 7.45pm kick-off at the Matchroom Stadium.
