Leyton Orient boss Alberto Cavasin is focusing on getting his team to work together ahead of their League Two match against Hartlepool United on Saturday.

Cavasin has lost his first two league matches since taking over the O’s in September but has faced tough opposition in Portsmouth and Luton Town.

Orient have failed to win in their last seven outings, losing five and drawing two and they are in need of three points at the weekend.

“We always think about winning. But for this match my thoughts are not on the three points even if it is the most important thing, the one thing that counts the most,” said the 60-year-old.

“My focus is the team working hard and being ready for Saturday’s match. Sooner or later we are going to smile.”

There were some positives from last weekend’s 2-1 loss to Luton Town as Ollie Palmer ended the O’s goal drought as he scored their first goal since September 24.

Nigel Atangana impressed in midfield and when he returns to full fitness, should be a force to be reckoned with, although they suffered an injury blow when Jay Simpson had to come off in the second half.

Cavasin added: “I still think we need to improve in a few areas. The performance from most of the match was positive.

“We have to try and play more consistent football throughout the match, try to risk less and try not to concede a goal.

“We need to be more like a team and have a lot more consistency. We are trying to put the little things in the proper place from the individual performances to all areas.

“We will take the loss but look at all the positives. In Italy when you lose three or four games the supporters always start to turn on the team.

“So from this aspect everything is great here in England as the fans are still behind us."

The O’s will face a testing trip to League One Sheffield United in the FA Cup after the draw for the first round was made this week.
