It is inevitable that Belgium international Christian Benteke will leave Liverpool this summer, according to reports.

Benteke has been the subject of intense speculation since the end of the season after falling out of favour under Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.

Crystal Palace emerged as the frontrunners to secure his signature but saw an opening £27m bid rejected by Liverpool.

The club bought Benteke for £32m last year from Aston Villa and they hope to recoup that cash this summer.

West Ham have also expressed an interest in the 25-year-old, who scored 10 goals for Liverpool during the 2015/16 campaign.

The Hammers and Palace were reportedly set to miss out on Benteke after he allegedly decided to try and fight for his place under Klopp.

However, according to the Daily Telegraph, Benteke’s departure from Merseyside this summer is “inevitable”.

It is claimed the former Genk star acknowledges he is not in Klopp’s immediate plans and has therefore no choice but to leave.
