Charlton are weighing up another offer for Ricky Holmes with a summer exit from Northampton Town inevitable.

The 28-year-old, who scored 11 goals in 32 games last season, handed in a transfer request yesterday and is the subject of interest from several clubs.

The Addicks hope to entice Holmes to SE7 and have already seen bids rejected by the Cobblers.

But News Shopper understands Charlton remain undeterred and are now considering tabling another offer for the former Portsmouth forward.

Northampton chairman Kelvin Thomas initially insisted the club hoped to keep Holmes, but has conceded the transfer request is a “game-changer”.

“We have rejected offers because we don't want to lose Ricky,” Thomas said.

“However his request is a bit of a game-changer. We will continue discussions over the next few days with both Ricky and the club concerned.

“Both understand that if anything is going to happen then the club's valuation will need to be met.”

Essex-born Holmes was an integral member of the Northampton squad which were crowned League Two champions in April.

Led by Chris Wilder, the side only lost five league games all season and finished 13 points above their nearest rival.
