Neil Harris is demanding a “Millwall performance” from his side in the play-off final against Barnsley on Sunday.

After an indifferent start to the season, the Lions found their form after Christmas and developed into automatic promotion contenders.

Harris’ side have only lost two of their last 17 games and booked a place at Wembley with a 4-2 win against Bradford over two legs.

Former Lions striker Harris insists it is an honour to take the club to the final and says he wants to see a typical Millwall performance.

“My demand on Sunday is to give me a really good Millwall performance,” Harris said.

“I think it’s a great day for the football club, one that we’ve been fortunate enough to experience before, this will be the fourth time in seven years that the club’s been to Wembley.

“For me it’s an honour, but for me, and this may sound like a cliché, my focus is the game. I don’t get too high when we win, I don’t get too low when we lose.”

Harris made over 400 appearances for Millwall as a player and is the all-time record goalscorer with 138 in all competitions.

The 38-year-old is now attempting to seal promotion back to the Championship in his first full season as a manager.

Harris insisted it would mean a great deal to him to take the club out of League One at the first time of asking.

He said: “It’ll be a proud moment for me to be the manager on Sunday.

“The biggest thing is the privilege to lead this group of players.

“I questioned their mentality, publicly, after a home defeat earlier in the season because I wanted to see the reaction. And I got it.

“Any time I’ve made a demand on the group, to win a game of football or to bounce back from a defeat they’ve done it.”

The boss also said due to the side’s recent form, they have earned the label of being a “good Millwall team”.

“I’ve only just recently called them a really good Millwall team,” he added.

“I think that’s the biggest compliment any manager can give his Millwall side because of the high standards, the demands of the fans, the demand of recent history of good teams, teams I’ve played in.

“We’ve been a really good Millwall team of late.”
