Joe Martin hopes Byron Webster will be fit for the League One play-off final against Barnsley as he has been “immense” for Millwall this season.

Webster is a major injury doubt for the weekend after limping off with a hamstring problem against Bradford in the second semi-final tie.

Martin admits the centre-back has been an influential player for the club but insists Tony Craig or Sid Nelson will step up if he is ruled out.

He said: “Byron and Mark [Beevers] have both been immense this year – they are two big players for us.

“But we have got a good squad.

“Tony [Craig] and Sid [Nelson] are good players and someone will step up if he’s not fit but hopefully he will be.”

Millwall scored 73 league goals this term – the third most in League One – largely thanks to the strike partnership of Steve Morison and Lee Gregory.

The attacking duo combined to net 46 goals between them and Martin acknowledged their importance to the way Millwall play.

The 27-year-old added: “Both of the boys up top are important to the way we play.

“They set us off on attacks and are important, they’ve beat up a lot of centre-halves this year.

“They get us up the pitch and hopefully they can deliver on Sunday.”
