Leyton Orient player-manager Kevin Nolan admits he takes defeats hard but is already focused on putting his first O's loss behind him.

His side were beaten 3-1 at home to Cambridge United last weekend but Nolan insists the squad are determined to put it right at Portsmouth on Saturday.

Speaking after the last game, Nolan said: "Listen as a player and as a captain I always took defeats really hard.

"One thing I learnt is you've got to keep your feet firmly on the ground no matter what happens even if you have a four or five game winning run and ride the wave because it can always come crashing down at any minute.

"Today feels like it has. But I've been a professional for a long time and I hope those lads are as disappointed as me. I think they are with the way they were afterwards and the way the meeting's gone."

The former West Ham United captain admits the pressure is back on after Orient dropped out of the League Two play-off places.

He said: "I've certainly put my point across and we've all put our point across and it's now about putting this behind us and then looking forward. We've dropped out of the play-offs which is not good for us and now the pressure's back on us.

"It's pressure that we've created and put on ourselves over the last two games so the lads are going to have a couple of days to relax and then on Tuesday they will be getting the video of this game so that's something to look forward to.

"Then we'll be looking forward to what will certainly be a tough game at Portsmouth but hopefully one which is not the same performance as this and one of Wycombe and Newport standard."
