Orient head coach Ian Hendon fears Paul McCallum will be sidelined with a long term knee injury.

The O's are expected to find out the extent of the injury within the next day but the striker is unlikely to return soon after being stretchered off at Northampton Town on Saturday.

Speaking last night after their home defeat to Carlisle United, Hendon said: "Paul's had a scan on Monday and it's come back. Obviously it's got a lot of medical terminology in it and he's seeing a specialist tomorrow [Wednesday] afternoon so we'll have a lot clearer indication of the seriousness of the injury and how long it's going to be. I think it's going to be a long term one sadly and we wish him a speedy recovery.

"It's going to be a case of seeing what the diagnosis is on Paul and we'll go from there."

Orient could be forced into the transfer market for another striker with Jay Simpson and Ollie Palmer the only experienced forwards available at the club.
