Head coach Martin Allen chalked Barnet's goalless draw up as another of those days after the Bees were held to a stalemate against Cambridge United at The Hive.

Allen felt his side were the better of the two once again and after hitting the woodwork twice and having two efforts cleared off the line, should have picked up their second win of the season.

Bira Dembele and Curtis Weston both struck the woodwork either side of half time whilst Michael Gash twice saw efforts scrambled off the line against his former employers.

However, Cambridge's goal led a charmed life and Richard Money's side escaped with something to show for their efforts and not for the first time this season.

“They weren’t better than us today, that’s for sure," said Allen afterwards. “I think we were the better team, we dominated for nearly all of that game.

“We hit the post, the cross bar, we had things cleared off the line left, right and centre. It’s been like that in quite a few of our games."

He continued: “I’m very pleased - it’s another point on the board. It was a good performance, especially after last week, and I see it as a point gained.

“It’s been a challenging month - it’s been ok but it hasn’t been great.

“Perhaps we haven’t got the amount of points that you’d expect from our performances; the points that we deserved to be honest.

“There’s only been one game where we didn’t play very well, and which I didn’t enjoy. The rest of it I’ve quite enjoyed watching them play, even if we haven’t won the game."
