After seeing an £8.5 million offer rejected by Manchester United, West Ham United are reportedly readying a £12 million bid for Manchester United's Javier Hernandez.

Hammers co-owner David Gold yesterday confirmed the east Londoners are already searching for a new striker, but after Enner Valencia was stretchered off during Thursday’s UEFA Europa League third qualifying round first leg tie against FC Astra Giurgiu, it became a priority.

And Mexican international Hernandez, nicknamed Chicarito - the Little Pea - fits that bill according to the Daily Mirror.

He spent last season on loan at Real Madrid, scoring nine times in 33 appearances in all competitions.

The Hammers are also rumoured to be interested in Queens Park Rangers' Charlie Austin, but have been deterred by the £15 million price tag.
