Barnet head coach Martin Allen has revealed he and his staff have yet to sign contracts for the forthcoming season, however, the Bees boss insists he is not concerned about the delay.

Barnet stated on May 9 Allen had signed a one-year rolling contract to remain in charge at The Hive with his previous deal expiring at the end of last season.

However, in an interview on talkSPORT on Friday evening the Bees head coach claimed he had yet to actually sign the contract.

He said: “I have not signed a contract yet but I should hopefully be signing that pretty soon. It seems to be in a good place.

“I have got good players and when I have got good players I am normally happy. When we are winning games and things are going well I am happy and it makes me a better person on and off the field.

“I am really happy and I have got no real desire to leave. I have a house just west of London and for the first time in quite a few years I am settled.”

Allen subsequently told the Times Series none of the new members of staff who have joined the Bees this summer have put pen-to-paper on their new deals either.

Speaking during Monday’s 4-3 defeat by Northwood, Allen stated: “No [I am not concerned]. Club secretary Andrew Adie has been away on holiday now for a couple of weeks. So I am sure now things will get sorted out professionally and properly.

“There have been a lot of changes. Luigi (Cerullo) has come in for Jayde (Cook). We have got a new analyst just starting from university called Daniel (Hutchings) so it is important he gets his contract sorted.

“And it’s the same for my assistant Adrian Whitbread. It is important we get his contract sorted.

“It’s important everybody is happy and that little team behind the team. How important were Jon Nurse, Omar (Yabroudi), Jayde (Cook) and of course our media man Tom (Clee), who doubled up on all the away trips on the bus helping us behind the scenes?

“It is important everybody gets looked after.”

Allen believes it is a case of when rather than if those contracts are finally ratified. He said: “When? Yes. Obviously we want to get it all sorted for their piece of mind as quickly as possible.

“I don’t want to lose them. At the moment any of them could just walk away and they are very important people.

“There is no way we would have got that promotion last year, as champions, without Nursey, without Jayde or without Omar working behind the scenes to help me. There is just no way we would have had a championship without those people.

“I am very excited about the new season and obviously the sooner the better because they want their contracts sorted.

“They need to know but also I need to know because I need to make sure everybody is happy and looking forward to the challenge we all face.”
