West Ham United have, as expected, completed the signing of Juventus' Italian international defender Angelo Ogbonna on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old centre-back becomes the Hammers' fourth summer signing - after Pedro Obiang, Dimitri Payet and Darren Randolph - for a fee believed to be around £8 million.

Signed from Turin rivals Torino in the summer of 2013, Ogbonna nade 59 appearances during his two-year stay with Juve, winning four trophies including back-to-back Serie A titles.

Speaking to the club website, he said: "I am delighted to have joined the club. I wanted to play in the Premier League and am happy to be in London. My heart told me that the right decision was to play for West Ham United.

“I cannot wait to start working under Mr Bilic and with my new team-mates. I feel ready for this new adventure.”

Ogbonna, who had spent his entire professional career - bar a loan spell with Crotone - with Torino prior to his move to the Juventus Stadium.

The defender made his first-team debut for il Toro in 2007 at the age of 18. After the club was relegated in 2009, he became a regular starter and captained the side for the first time in 2010, leading them to promotion during the 2011-12 season.

After 147 appearances for the club, he moved across the city to rivals Juventus in 2013.

Ogbonna has struggled to hold down a starting spot with the Old Lady during his two years with the club, finding himself behind Giorgio Chiellini, Andrea Barzagli and Leonardo Bonucci in the pecking order.

He was an unused substitute when they lost the Champions League to Barcelona in June.

Born to Nigerian parents, the 6ft 3in defender gained Italian citizenship at 18 and has gone on to represent the country of his upbringing at Under-21 and senior level, winning ten full caps for the Azzurri.
