Leyton Orient chief executive Alessandro Angelieri has confirmed the club expect to announce their new manager by Friday.
The O's are looking for Fabio Liverani's replacement after his departure following their relegation from League One.
Ian Hendon is understood to have been chosen as Orient's next manager although Angelieri insists no contract has been finalised.
The Italian said: “We have not signed a contract with anyone yet but before the end of the week we will announce our new manager.”
Orient are second favourites to win League Two next season but the new manager faces a difficult challenge in rebuilding the squad with 12 players out of contract this summer.
