Carshalton Athletic manager Rob Scantlebury is considering the future as the Robins completed their season with a 3-2 defeat at Three Bridges.

While last Saturday's defeat meant Carshalton's last away win came back in September, it was some impressive home form, which yielded 28 points since November, that meant a late flirt with relegation was not fully realised.

But, although he reveals new blood will be brought in, Scantlebury also believes some of his current squad will push on next season.

He said: "I've got two or three new faces pretty much confirmed for pre-season, plus I've identified a few others we'd like to initially talk to, but some of this current crop have no doubt solidified their place here too.

"I feel the likes of Jordan Higgs, Paris Hamilton-Downes, Sean O'Toole and Mickel Miller have all improved as the season has gone on and they'll be another year wiser and stronger."

Carshalton were 3-0 down at the break on Saturday but a spirited fightback saw a converted penalty by Adriano Moraes and a Tommy Bradford strike reduce the arrears, while sub Ricky Korboa had a goalbound effort tipped onto the woodwork with 10 minutes to go.

"We were defensively poor from front to back in the first-half and it cost us three goals," said Scantlebury.

"I told the boys to chase the goals I know we have in us and, to be honest, we could've ended up winning the game.

"Ricky was unlucky, Rob Tanner put wide from a good position, Sean had one well saved - we tend to react better to a challenge and that's perhaps something that needs to change for next season."

And, with a focus on the future, Scantlebury added he will be talking to club chairman Paul Dipre soon to ensure everyone is on the same page.

"This has been my first taste of senior management and I've enjoyed it, but results have been up and down," he said.

"I will talk to the chairman about the about the club as a whole, not only my position.

"I want us to keep improving at every level because I'm Carshalton through and through and want to see the entire club doing well."
