Surbiton hotshot Alan Forsyth is hoping his side’s run to the MHL Premier Division play-offs can attract the attention of the Team GB selectors.

The 22-year-old Scotland international has starred for Todd Williams’ men this season scoring 18 league goals and forming a lethal partnership with former GB international Matt Daly.

Surbiton reached the final of the Men’s Cup on Sunday thanks to a 5-4 penalty strokes triumph at cup holders Cannock after the scores had finished 3-3 in normal time.

There remains the chance of silverware in the Premier Division play-offs too on April 11, where they face old foe Wimbledon in the semi-finals with a place in Europe at stake.

And, while Forsyth is aware a good showing could push him up the international pecking order with the 2016 Olympics looming large on the horizon, it is success with Surbiton that is motivating him most.

“You do know the coaches are coming down to watch games,” said the St George’s College hockey coach.

“It is the reason I moved down here from Scotland, to get my name out there and get noticed.

“It is not really something I think too much about though.

“I have to make sure I’m playing well week in, week out. What happens will happen, but Surbiton is my main focus.”
