Boss Mark Warburton says the signature of Leicester City defender Liam Moore is a boost to Brentford's promotion hopes at the expense of his side's rivals.

The 22-year-old England U21 international, who has made 11 appearances in the top flight this season. has agreed a loan switch to Griffin Park and could be in conteention to face Birmingham City on Saturday.

Moore had a two month loan spell with the Bees in 2013 and Warburton was only too pleased to have fought off competition from other top six Championship clubs to secure his services.

“Liam has continued his rapid development since being with us two years ago and has established himself with England U21s," he said.

"He is a very talented young defender. We were very aware that we were exposed to injury and lack of cover in the central defensive position.

“Liam will be a welcome addition and adds real competition for places as we enter the final stretch of what has been a good season so far.

“Liam had other options and could have gone to other top six Championship clubs, but we are delighted he has chosen to join us.”
