Balder Succes is expected to start as the favourite for Saturdays  36th running of the 888sport Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown Park.

The Alan King trained gelding, priced at 100/30 at the start of the week by race sponsors 888sport, is one of 18 horses confirmed entries for the £150,000 Grade One race.

Balder Succes started his season in the Grade Two Vix Technology Haldon Gold Cup Chase when finishing second to God’s Own [7/2], who will also be on start line in Esher for trainer Tom George.

Mick Channon trained Somersby – second in the Amlin Chase last time out – and Old Roan Chase winner Wishfull Thinking were both priced at 6/1.

Sandown’s head of racing Andrew Cooper said: “We are delighted with the quality and quantity of entries for this year’s race.

“The race is always one of the highlights of our jump season and is now our joint-most valuable jump race.

“The going is currently mainly soft, and is likely to remain, so all week.”
