Neil Warnock is keen to extend the stays of Damien Delaney and Joel Ward at Selhurst Park by signing them up on new deals.

Delaney has a contract extension offer on the table and discussions are already underway with Ward, despite the highly-rated full-back still having two-years to go on his present deal.

On Delaney, the Eagles boss said: “He has been offered a contract at the moment but he hasn’t signed it yet.

“The contract is there on the table, so it is nothing to do with us it is to do with Damien.

“Over the season he has done very, very well and is a good leader for us in the dressing room as well.

“That’s why we’ve offered him a new contract, but it is up to him whether he signs it or not.”

Asked whether talks had already started with Ward, Warnock confirmed: “They have, yeah. I think there are probably one or two players we will probably talk to.

“I just think Joel is an important player.

“It doesn’t mean he will sign the contract, he has got his options I know from speaking to the lad himself.

“But I think it is important the club make offers like that to players, not just when their contracts expire but in plenty of time when you value their services.”

Palace head to West Brom on Saturday and the Eagles manager reckons it is unlikely recovering duo Scott Dann and James AcArthur will be fit in time.

Warnock added: “Scott Dann is running OK at the minute but whether I risk him when we’ve got 10 days to our next game after this weekend, I don’t know whether it is worth the risk

“He is dead keen but we will see. We’ve got a couple of days so it does make a difference.

“I don’t think McArthur will make it.”
