Boxer Ricky Boylan is stepping back into the ring this weekend as preparations for an English title shot gather pace, writes Tim Ashton.
The Carshalton 26-year-old fighter has been out of action since May after picking up a tibia stress fracture.
But now the ex-Southern Area light welterweight champion is back, and he is gearing up for his October shot at the English title with a warm up fight on Saturday.
Boylan, pictured below, who turned pro in 2010, boasts a perfect record of 11 fights, 11 wins – but next month’s title bout against Tyler Goodjohn at the O2 Arena will be his biggest to date.
“Touch wood, my leg has been fine since I have come back and I have been easing my way back over the past eight weeks,” said the former Earlsfield ABC man.
“I had a nice rest with some family time. But now I am happy to be back and I am fighting fit.”
