Hercules Wimbledon AC's women performed well in their third Southern Women's League Division One match at Crawley, taking runners-up spot in a seven-match contest.

Surrey long jump medallist Emily Martin had a busy time winning the long jump and javelin, taking second in the shot and discus, and third in the hammer before linking up with Ruth Hampson, Emilie Bokor-Ingram and Ayoola Ajayi to win the sprint relay.

She threw personal bests of 9.38 metres and 24.30m in the shot and discus.

The following day, she was in action for Surrey in an inter-county match at Mile End where she won the long jump B event with 5.32m.

Marathon runner Claire Grima gained a fine double on th track taking the 1,500m and 3,000m A races at Crawley, with Amy Aronson securing maximum points in both events by winning the B string races.

Other winners at Crawley included Ruth Hampson (100m hurdles A, 400m hurdles A, shot B and javelin B), Emilie Bokor-Ingram (400m A), Lisa Thomas (400m B, 800m B), Heather Letley (100m hurdles B) and Ayoola Ajayi (U17 300m hurdles A and 80m hurdles B).

Bokor-Ingram also anchored the 4x400m relay to victory linking up with Zara Hashmi, Letley and Hannah Fernando.

Hercules Wimbledon's top sprinter Max Mondelli captained Surrey to an overall team win at the English Schools Championships at Birmingham on Saturday - the third successive year Surrey have won the aggregate trophy.

He set by example taking the silver medal in the senior boys 100m in 10.84secs, finishing ahead of his Hercules Wimbledon clubmate Theo Etienne who took the bronze medal, representing Hertfordshire in 10.88secs.

A third Hercules Wimbledon athlete competing at Birmingham, Rechmial Miller, was fifth in the intermediate boys 100m in 11.02secs.

Elsewhere, teenager Zac Purnell broke the course record by eight seconds to beat 80 other runners and win Sunday's junior parkrun at Wimbledon Park in seven minutes 6secs.

Ciara Kennedy was the first girl finishing fifth in 8:32.

Hercules Wimbledon's Gina Galbraith was the first woman to finish in the Wimbledon Common parkrun on Saturday in 19:59.

Top Hercules Wimbledon finisher was Adam Harwood who as fifth out of 331 runners in 18:33.

Fred Slemeck maintained his unbeaten record in the Basingstoke event when he posted his third win there in 16:21, beating almost 200 other runners.

This weekend, Hercules Wimbledon's road runners are in action in the Elmbridge 10km road race at Walton-on-Thames on Sunday.

Hercules Wimbledon's women's team are aiming to lift the Rosenheim League Eastern Division title for the first time when they go into the final match at Tooting Bec next Wednesday evening with a narrow lead over rivals Belgrave.
