Bees boss Mark Warburton reckons last year's dramatic final day defeat to Doncaster Rovers is proving a help rather than a hinderance to his squad.

Alan Judge added a double to Adam Forshaw's penalty as Brentford eased past relegation threatened Notts County 3-1 at Griffin Park to end a run of three games without a win on Saturday.

The result has the Bees six points clear of third-placed Rotherham ahead of Tuesday's visit of struggling Crawley Town.

Brentford famously missed out on automatic promotion on the final day of last season before going on to suffer play-off final disappointment at the hands of Yeovil Town.

And Warburton insisted the memories of last year would help his men as  the League One run-in gathers pace.

“The players have learned from last year," he said.

"They all came through the experience last year and will benefit from that."

Dubliner Judge was in top form in front of watching Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill.

And Warburton reckons the on-loan Blackburn Rovers midfielder will have made a lasting impression on the former Aston Villa manager.

"He's a player who needs to enjoy his football," added the Bees chief.

"He's happy, getting good pitch time and was very good.

"I'm sure Martin O'Neill would've been impressed by his performance."
