Thames Turbo Triathlon Club ladies captain Natarsha Wendt is hoping the exploits of six members can inspire the Hampton-based club’s next generation of triathlon stars.
Alena Stevens, Liz Pinches and James Ogilvie were this week named in the top 1 per cent of Ironman triathletes worldwide, who have completed at least one full or half Ironman event this year.
Pinches, Ogilvie and Esther Evans have all been ranked in the top 10 in their age groups in the UK with Paul Perry and Jon Heasman breaking in to the top 20, while Stevens, who lives locally, is the number one 30-34-year-old in her native country Slovakia.
“Thames Turbo has a long history of attracting and training great athletes,” said Wendt.
“To have six athletes in one club is a great success and a real inspiration to our other senior and junior members.”
