Blues ambushed in Lincoln

WANDERERS lost their fourth away game on the spin as they were beaten at Lincoln City this afternoon.

Jeff Hughes scored the only goal of the game after 72 minutes, although Wycombe can feel very hard done by.

Apart from a comfortable save minutes before the goal and fine one-handed stop just after it, Wycombe keeper Jamie Young did not have a save to make.

But his opposite number, Alan Marriott, was named Man of the Match after getting in the way of a catalogue of Wycombe chances.

Although Jermaine Easter was subdued and substituted, Tommy Mooney could have had a hat-trick of headed goals while Stefan Oakes struck the bar with a rasping 30-yard drive.

Blues created other chances besides these, but their 300 travelling fans left the Sincil Bank Stadium with only the news that Peterborough's defeat ensured Wycombe remain sixth to cheer them.
