Brentford boss Mark Warburton thanks Bees fans for the reception they gave him on Saturday and is out to repay their support with a very happy Christmas.

The 51-year-old had Jonathan Douglas' injury-time header to thank for a 1-0 win over Oldham Athletic in his first game since his appointment as Uwe Rosler's permanent successor.

The Bees bounced back from a disappointing FA Cup exit at Carlisle United last week to cement third place in the League One table ahead of the busy festive schedule.

Warburton was delighted to see his side extend their nine-match unbeaten league run in the wake of Rosler's exit and the former sporting director is after more over the closing weeks of 2013.

"My big fear was this run of form. It ended with defeat in the cup at Carlisle. Now we're on a new run and have started off well," he said.

"Our target is the five games over the festive period. We're now clear in third and all we can do is go about our business.

"The fans were tremendous. That was new to me, walking out in front of them.

"I can't thank them enough for the welcome and you'll have seen my cheeks flushing.

"I just hope we can deliver the attacking, creative football they want to see."
