Welshman Martin Rees clocked 55 minutes two seconds to set a new over 60s 10-mile world record to finish 24th at the Stragglers Running Club’s Cabbage Patch 10-mile race on Sunday.
Rees finished only two seconds behind Great Britain international distance runner and women’s race winner Steph Twell in 23rd, was way adrift of winner Kenyan athlete Boniface Kiprop Kongin, who clocked 48:45.
St Mary’s Richmond AC Paul Thompson (50:25) was sixth and Stragglers Running Club’s Anthony Jackson, third in Saturday’s Bushy parkrun, was 26th.
