MAYOR of London Boris Johnson has launched a new policing team to patrol a busy DLR station.
Woolwich Arsenal DLR station is the latest location in the capital to receive extra policing as part of the mayor’s plans to increase police presence on and around public transport.
The team is headed by Inspector Peter Stroud, who will work with a PC and five PCSOs. By March, a sergeant and two more PCSOs will also become part the team.
Jointly funded by Transport for London and the Met, the team will help support safer neighbourhoods teams, British Transport Police and local transport staff.
Inspector Stroud said: "The new policing team is an enhancement of the already existing safer transport team, which was launched in December 2008.
“The new team is very much part of the regeneration process which is taking place in Woolwich.”
