BOB Lee Swagger (Mark Wahlberg), a hugely respected marine, decides to retire and become almost a recluse when he sees his best friend blown up on active service.

But - years later - the FBI have a job to do and believe Swagger is the only person capable of pulling it off.

He is asked to plan the American president's murder in order to catch a Government insider who is just days away from carrying out an assassination attempt himself.

Swagger's sense of patriotism goes into overdrive and he decides to help, completely unaware that he is being dragged into a net of deceit where almost nobody can be trusted.

The action-packed, high octane drama contained in Shooter left me quite exhausted by the end.

From the explosions, to the car chases, to the dramatic shoot-outs, the excitement just never lets up.

And the acting from Wahlberg and co-stars Danny Glover and Michael Pena is spot on.

By the end of it, I defy people not to hate or care about certain characters with a passion.

In a world of action films where the number of explosions matter more than the presence of a decent plot, Shooter really hit the bullseye for me.
