Olympics will have an artistic side
CULTURAL leaders are meeting in Hatfield today to discuss the opportunities the 2012 London Olympics offer for the arts.
The meeting in the Mid-Herts Music and Arts Centre in Birchwood Avenue is discussing the Cultural Olympiad, a four-year programme of culture and creativity running across the whole of the UK in the build-up to the games.
Organiser Liz Hughes said: "This is an opportunity for the cultural organisations in Hertfordshire to be officially part of the London 2012 Games.
"These projects will form a key part of the Games' lasting legacy of touching the lives of the whole nation.
"We are looking for truly innovative cultural projects that find new ways of developing and delivering culture for our communities."
