Olympic torch to travel through London
The Olympic torch has arrived in the capital in preparation for its journey through the city today.
It will be carried by 80 torchbearers on a 31 mile journey to the O2 arena in Greenwich.
The Met Police say 2,000 officers will be providing security along the route today amid fears that protestors unhappy at recent events in Tibet may try to disrupt proceedings.
Organisers have planned the Greenwich event at Peninsula Square to be a mixture of East meets West including Chinese ribbon dancers, gymnasts, and chart act The Sugababes.
The day starts at 10.30am at Wembley Stadium and the torch travels through the city before the grand finale at the O2 at 6pm.
Double Olympic gold medal winner Dame Kelly Holmes and Sir Steve Redgrave will be among the torchbearers.
The torch was lit in Olympia, Greece, on Sunday (March 30) and will travel through 20 countries before the opening ceremony in Beijing on August 8.
