Sutton's mascots prepare for games
5:30am Friday 7th September 2012 in Bizarre By Sophia Sleigh, Reporter
Sutton Arena saw an unusual warm-up session this week when three of Sutton’s mascots got together.
The Christmas lights mascot, Poppy the Penguin, the St Helier Festival squirrel, Cyril, and Toby the Dog from Times Square Sutton got together for a pre- competition team chat following their invitation to the AFC Wimbledon’s Chariots of Fur event.
Sutton’s mascots including a gorilla from Radio Royal Marsden and the Polka Dot Pantomime Bear will appear at the event on Wimbledon Common on Sunday, September 9, at 3pm to raise funds for the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation.
Around 20 mascots will be taking part in the event which is being held on the Common at the historic Windmill as part of the Wimbledon Common Stables Open Day which runs from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
